By far the biggest cost you will face with manual handling training is the cost of paying your people to sit in a room. It’s why we believe training should have a strong impact. It’s also why the strongest ingredient in the evolution of STRONG SPINE has been the science of personal influence. We are wholly concerned in triggering the intrinsic motivation in each trainee to change the way they move, what risks they perceive and how they manage themselves.
In our journey we’ve learned that anatomy diagrams of the spine, demonstrating how to lift boxes off the floor and teaching basic ergonomics do not change beliefs. The experience that changes beliefs in manual handling is obvious – it’s movement. If you want to teach people how to move – then get them to move. The STRONG SPINE SYSTEM is a body of knowledge that stretches back thirty years. The program began it’s life in the Power Stations of Western Australia’s south west in the late 1980’s and since then has evolved by teaching hundreds of thousands of people; how to understand what manual handling risk really is, how to move better and how to prepare their bodies to move better.
People in mining, offshore oil & gas, telecommunications, food production, agriculture, law enforcement, the military, road transport, aviation, logistics, retail, information-technology, printing, education, emergency services, hospitals, construction, cemeteries, education and film & TV production have all experienced strong spine training. Most of them say it’s the best workplace training they’ve received, period.
